School of Engineering and Physical Sciences RAE 2008 success

The results of RAE2008 independently confirm the excellence of our researchers, with over 50% being assessed  as internationally excellent or world leading.

In General Engineering we are ranked 2nd equal in Scotland, while our Physics research is rated on a par with Oxford and Southampton, in joint 15th place in the UK. Chemistry research has risen five places in the national ranking, becoming one of only 3 UK departments to have improved its standing in three successive RAEs. Our department of Chemical Engineering has also been ranked first in Scotland.

Around 90% of all eligible staff were submitted to the RAE  so the strength across the board of these  results cement the School as a substantial, research intensive  player in the UK  science and engineering landscape. For more details see the Times Higher RAE Results
