Our research interests are wide ranging from quantum optics, semiconductor physics, material science, nonlinear photonics to application of photonics for industrial applications. Our work is well-supported by the UK Research Councils and by industry.

We are continually seeking good candidates for PhD research - details of available projects and start dates can be found on our PhD studies pages.

PhD study in IPaQS is supported by the SUPA Graduate School which supports a range of taught technical courses, as well as in transferable skills provision. IPaQS is also a partner in the Scottish Doctoral Training Centre in Condensed Matter Physics. IPaQS is also the lead partner in the Industrial Doctorate Centre in Optics and Photonics Technologies which provides commercially-focussed engineering doctorates in conjunction with leading industrial companies in the field.
