Institute of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering

IMPEE is a new, dynamic, multi-disciplinary research institute, promoting research excellence across its three main research groups: “Design and Manufacture”, “Energy” and “Chemical and Process Engineering”.

The mission of this vibrant new Institute is to foster research excellence across its three main research groups: focussing on cross-disciplinary research in the areas of energy, product design and manufacturing, chemical and process engineering and healthcare.

Much of our work involves strong industrial links across a range of sectors with our staff having a combination of skills and experience which allow us to identify of new areas of interest.

Researchers investigate a new carbon capture method

Professor Raffaella Ocone is leading an international team which has been awarded funding of £105,056 from the Leverhume Trust to investigate the carbon capture potential of biochar, a by-product of photosynthesis.
