Materials Chemistry Research Topics
Research in the Synthesis and Properties of New Materials group is directed towards materials with technologically useful structural, mechanical, electronic, magnetic, electrochemical and thermal properties. Our research effort spans the two major themes of solid-state chemistry and polymer chemistry. We have the shared aim of understanding the relationship between structure and properties in a broad spectrum of materials, in order to proceed to the rational design of new materials with controllable functionality. Our research combines aspects of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry and much of our work also lies at the interface with other disciplines. Broad topics covered by SPNM are:
- Polymer Chemistry - Dr V. Arrighi
- Energy Materials - Dr. J.-W. Bos
- Polymer Synthesis and Microreactors - Dr A. Kraft
- Solid-State Chemistry - Prof. A.V. Powell
- Solid-State Materials for Energy Applications - Dr P. Vaqueiro
